Tech Lingo
It seems like there is a completely new vocabulary that goes right along with educational technology. Here is what each term means in the words of a technology professional developer.
Add-on- a program that is installed into an application to add functionality to the application.
Example- Pear Deck
Application- a piece of software that allows you to complete specific tasks.
Example- Microsoft Word
Asynchronous Learning- students complete classwork on their own time
Example- Self-paced Nearpod lesson
Extension- program that is installed into your browser to add functionality to the browser.
Example- Bitmoji
Synchronous Learning- all student complete classwork at the same time
Example- Zoom lesson
